I'm really loving this conversation! I've read At Work in the Ruins but had not yet heard Dougald talking much about matters of faith and how they fit into the current ruins. Having been steeped in Christianity for much of my life I am observing Paul's conversion (I haven't yet made the time to follow much of Martin's work, though I did consider taking part in one of his amazing courses on Dartmoor last year - maybe that will still come!) in perhaps a similar way to Dougald. Like both of you, I think I'm looking for the seeds, maybe lying dormant, within the ruins of the Christian faith, to tend to and help grow back healthily. But I'm only at the very beginning of that process. The comment by Jonathan previous to mine may actually contain everything we need to know anyway!

About ruins, I'm reminded of reading "The Wild Wisdom of Weeds", a fantastic book by Katrina Blair. She highlighted for me what an ecologist already knows well - that there are certain plants - "weeds" - which will eventually start to colonise the most devastated landscapes, if left undisturbed, and start to creat new soil. And I think of permaculture principles and how Nature knows what it's doing. To a certain extent we just need to get out of the way. But we can also aid the regenerative process if we also act in alignment with those principles of Nature itself.

Thank you both for this conversation!

Thank you. Dougald is a true treasure. Anyone who is bringing his presence out into the world more fully is doing good work.

Who or what is Truth?

Truth is not a person, or a thing, or a knowable object, or a thought.

Truth is a Process.

Who or what is "I"?

"I" is not a person, or a thing, or a knowable entity, or a thought.

"I" is a Process.

The Process that is Truth and the Process that is "I" are one and the same.

What is the Process that is "I" and that is Truth?

It is positive (or self-transcending) bodily submission/surrender to the Radiant, All-Pervading Life-Principle or the Holy Spirit.

It is bodily love of Life, done to the absolute degree, until there is only Radiant Life.

This is the Law, and it is all you need to know.

Do this, be this, and you will Realize Happiness, Enjoyment, Health, Longevity, Wisdom, Joy, Humor, Ecstasy and the Radiant Way that leads beyond Man and beyond the Earth.

Eternal and total Freedom, Wisdom, and Happiness are the primary needs and ideas of Man (male and female)

Always remember that your inherent heart-disposition wants and needs Infinite, Absolute, True, Eternal Happiness.
